An update of our conditions. LOL Hubby is doing much better, but he has shared his cold and for some reason, it seems to be getting me even stronger than his was. Not fair LOL. But at least I get to rest at home and nurse myself to health and at night he takes over. Actually my maid is so awesome. It seems I can't do anything in my home now. As soon as she hears me going about and sees something in my hand she grabs it and tells me to go rest LOL. Where was she all my life LOL? I love her to bits! I just renewed her contract for the remainder time we are here. I told her we are keeping you, you are doing a great job and you are an excellent cook so you are not going anywhere we are keeping you. She is teaching me the meaning of resting LOL what will I do when I go back home? I will be too spoiled.
So for today I am sharing my Hubby's Birthday card with you. This one was a little more involved but I will try and give you info so you get to do the same if you have a stamp or image to do the same with. If you have any questions on it please email me
Items used for this card are: Gingham ribbon, Gold heart from beautiful packaging I had, black, white and red stock, a pattern paper for the background, white and gold peel offs, Prismacolor and OMS technique for coloring the chef and cake. Uni-ball signo broad white pen for chef pants. Chef image is from a Stampin Up stamp set. Hubby loved it!
Here are a few more quickie sheets for you and if I am sending repeats please forgive me. I still have a clouded mind from this stubborn cold.
As you already know I was on a trip not long ago and it was the reason why I could not publish blogs since the time I would normally do this fun work was at night after dinner but since at night we could not stay up passed 7:30 pm the time I had for blogging was taken away to my sleep hee hee. So the sheets I had prepared for that week are still going to be added to the Photobucket later but I wanted you to have them on hand if needed next Holidays so it's up to you to decide what to do with them.
I also have a card I made before leaving on our trip. So I hope you enjoy today's blog.
Here is the card and quickie instructions:
This fun card was made for my friend Jo Anne for her Birthday. I used some celery stock and used some Distress ink with the sponge dabber by Tim Holtz, I really love the look of all of his inks. I added a pattern sheet of matching color but before I adhered it to the stock I added the blue ribbon, and added a bow on top of my ribbon. I used 2 Nestabilities on this card, one called blossom that you see in blue behind the party lady and the Party your Panties off was the Beaded ovals which had become a favorite of mine.
I printed out the Party your panties off but to make it like it fit there properly I traced the inside of the beaded oval used in this case and cut out and adhered it to the frame. The Lady stamp was from Rubbernecker. Easy, simple and I hope that can inspire you to make your own.
Here are a few quickie sheets for you to store:
Gone for now Have a great day everyone!
Counting down for the New Year to come!
Chinese New Year I believe is on February 2nd this year.
I hope everyone had a great gathering with family and celebrated Christmas with style. I could perhaps assume that there were quite a few crafty pressies under the tree. I hope Santa knew what you had been wanting and dreaming of having for quite a while. Santa was good to me so no complaints here.
As for our last trip that ended this passed Tuesday, it was a fun one all the way around up until we came back here. Not surprising to us. I had a good time with my friends we had the chance to see my great friend Jo Anne eventhough she was on a tight schedule expecting family for the Holidays, we were blessed to have a few hours with her and her husband. We had a great time Jo Anne. Thanks for all you do!
The I had a Sunday filled with fun and laughter wrapped in what felt like a too short day. It started at 10 am and ended at about 6 pm. So we shopped and had lunch and played all afternoon, Phyllis was the wonderful hostess as always, she had Gloria and I over for the afternoon. What a great time we all had. Hubby was gone to see a football game with his daughter and we visited the children for a few hours. We had a fun visit as time was flying by too quickly.
What got us so wrapped up in such a tight schedule this time around, was due to jet lag. We were up at 3 am and wanting to crash at the very latest 7 pm made it difficult to even come on line to check emails and add to the blog.
Sue no we didn't lose our keys to the lost luggage this time. We were well prepared we had one set in my bag and the other one stayed in the car hidden for when we returned.
To get back to the beginning, I said all went well until we got here again. As you know from San Francisco to Beijing is a stiff 12 hour long flight, so better sleep some of it otherwise it is a long long time to wait in there LOL. We made it to Beijing and saw our last flight home being delayed of 15 minutes, knowing that we already had another waiting period of 3 hours before we would take that flight was adding to what followed next. We were falling sleep on our chair especially after having a nice dinner we were more susceptible to crash easily. So when came the time to board the plane we were in line ready to go. We boarded the plane when all of us were finally sitting ready to leave. They announced that the flight had been cancelled. Sorry! We had to leave and go back to the airport by bus.
Then we were trying to find out what would happen next as they were only speaking Chinese and people were upset. They said they were keeping our bags and took us to a Hotel. We asked for a smoke free room and we got something that was smelling no less than an old ashtray, I couldn't sleep it was too strong of a smell. So at 5 am we had to get up and go downstairs to check on the flight status. We were told it had been postponed (delayed to later on in the morning) so we had breakfast and waited in the lobby staying away from the smokers and getting some fresh cold air coming in to not smell so much the stinch of chimney smokers around us.
Finally when we were told there was a possibility we could leave at 11 am we took our same buses from the night before and got back to the airport. We had to go in line again to get a new boarding pass, grrrr. By this time Hubby was starting to really feel miserable as we were going around and around with not so much sleep in more than 48 hours time. I was also getting there as well. So we get in line to go out and board the aircraft again, and as we had just started to give our boarding passes to the counter attendant they announced another delay. So I was close to my tears as playing with our being tired, run down and catching colds from all of it was all we could handle. We went back to sit and the rest of the passengers left to go we didn't know where. So we had our laptop to play with and occupy our time.
Came the next tentative time, our flight was now scheduled to leave at 12:30 pm which was another hour and 30 minutes of waiting. LOL Following me yet? Anyhow we got to the point of boarding the plane once again in heavy winds climbing stairs to get there with heavier bag from being exhausted. We sat and waited, people were so quiet, it was as if we were waiting for the 3rd shoe to drop and get off again. So we were told they were finishing up with luggage and we would be on our way. But none of us were excited yet, expecting what you know hee hee. So the plane started to move, and stopped. We were not moving for another 15 minutes, yes you got it, we were frustrated to no end. Hubby was really suffering as his sinuses were really stuffed up and could not anticipate the coming pressure change that happens each time we fly. But he said he would be ok as long as we leave soon he hee.
Finally they told us that we were queuing to leave. It was so silent in the plane we could have heard a mosquito fly (or as Aussies would call them Mozzies). When we turned to face the runway and started to advanced quickly we all applauded we were so happy to finally take off. All of this for just one hour long flight.
We had another hour long drive home but we were happy to show our keys to the driver and tell him this time we are not going to the Hotel and wait for lost luggage. The inconvenience to not have all of our luggage overnight was really unreal. Not being able to change after more than 24 hours in the same clothes was really not my cup of tea and to make matters worst, all of our medicine for cold and others, were in the luggage we couldn't get back so that was adding to the injury.
Anyhow, I know a lot of you were curious as to know what had happened on our way back and why we had been delayed for that long. So this is the story. We are still fighting jet lag. Staying up later at night fighting the sleepiness is the hardest thing to do, wow!
Hubby had a visit at the clinic the next day as he was really under the weather, so that was a good thing to do as he has been recuperating quickly since. But as we always share everything he has shared his cold with me, so now I am under the weather for a few days, so we are really taking it easy. Christmas was quiet as Christmas is not celebrated in China and most people we know who live here are gone back home at this time.
So I am glad I can finally get to make more cards and will soon post more cards I had made before we left on our trip home. So hang in there I am getting back to normal slowly but surely. I am up to date with all emails and I have put away all new craft bits so I can find them when needed. Glad to be home that's for sure.
Thank you to all of you who have sent us the most beautiful Christmas cards via my friend in California. She had a bag full waiting for me as she was smiling when she handed it to me. At least this year we got all of our cards. I am looking forward to next year when we are moving back home in September I will be able to not only make cards but also send some in the mail which I haven't done this year to the exception of a few I had to send when we were in other countries.
So my friends, sorry for the length of my novel here...but, I hope it was interesting to read, more pleasant than living it I assure you! hee he hee
Waving at all of you and please don't be shy to leave comments, make me laugh as you are so good at doing that. I love reading what you send me so, have a go at it, make me smile! PLEASE hee hee
Nicole, living where it is flippin cold right now :)
A quick note to tell you that I will post a quickie sheet in a few hours, when I am freshly rested in the morning. Dealing with jet lag badly, going to bed at 8 pm and getting up at 3 am is not too productive for me at this point but making progress each and every day. Glad to be home, out of hotels for a while.
Gone for now!
I will continue to share some of my newest cards with you in a few days I will let Christmas pass first and then I too will have more time to share more things with you. In the meantime here is a Valentine's Day sheet for you.
You can say we are travelling we had a few doctors/dentists visits for the first few days. We left yesterday to have a quick stop in Las Vegas and today we are headed out to California for a few more days and then off we go again, back to our 9 months left stay in China.
We went to see a really nice show last night called KA from Cirque du Soleil it was fabulous. We were sitting in the front row and had a few scare hee hee
I hope you are not missing me too much hee hee. I have sheets ready and when I can find my memory stick in my tons of luggage LOL I will send a few your way.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone who celebrates it.
I am so happy I was able to make a few cards yesterday but I am hoping to make more today. I don't know if you are like me but I find it easy to get sidetracked when I start making cards. Thankfully I don't get many days like that since I always have so much to do. But it is fun to notice and put myself back on the right track again.
This folder is from Craft Concepts (purchased in Australia)
This embossing folder is from Cuttlebug's, Provo Craft
This embossing folder is from Cuttlebug's Provo Craft
As I had mentionned in yesterday's blog, I have made 3 cards not 4, again using the ink sponging the raised imbossed part of the background before I added my center piece. I stamped the center piece background then I stamped over it the stem flower and used some copic markers to color it. Copic R27, G07, G02, G24. Then I matched as close as possible the ribbon with the lavender background of the card. I added a pearl buckle and the card was done. See the other two to see what difference it makes by just changing the embossing folder...
As for the quickie sheet for today, here it is:
Well, I just hope that you will have a lovely day. I am keeping busy here to say the least. But most of all I am having fun and smiling widely!
Here we are, mid-week for me and yet so much to do before we leave on our home leave. But it is a fun one so no complaints here. I had the chance to spend an hour last night making new quickie sheets for you to last me for at least a week. So I feel better now that I have that taken care of while I could relax and stay focused while having fun doing them.
But I will start with another card of mine I made recently I hope it can inspire you for your next project:
This card was used with thesame principle as my previous one with the inking of the embossed area. I embossed the red and gold heart with a Stampin Up template, also used the Spellbinders Heart shapes. I have used 3 colors of cardstock, cocoa, caramel, and very vanilla I also used a tag from Spellbinders and inked up the inside of the tag before I removed the metal piece, it sure does add so much interest doing it that way. I think. I added a ribbon, then a bow, this is another easy card for Valentine's Day! Gone for now!
This is your Quickie sheet for today. Just want to remind Ruth and a few more ladies that came forward to explain how the photobucket was showing up the sheets in there with a lot of work but it is all there. I will have to go and clean it up when I get back. For the time being it will have to remain that way, I call it my maze now. But each page, read there to find more it will get you there with a little patience. Thank you for understanding.
I wonder if you are still very busy in the kitchen baking getting ready for family to make it to your door step soon. I know it is coming faster than I can prepare for everything but it is always worth all the work including all the cards we also make on top of our regular every day schedule.
Have fun and will be back tomorrow
Thank you for all visitors and all commenters, I know there are days the comment box is not in the mood to send anything, I wish I had magical powers to make sure it works daily but keep on trying as I never know if it is disabled unless you tell me. But don't worry I know you are trying.
Well the photobucket seem to have sorted itself out. For some not so comicle reason when I was there earlier yesterday during the day for me, it was showing me NO images. So I tried 3 times and left as I thought for sure I had lost everything. So later on, I went to check again, but this time (later on) I realized I had not refreshed my browser which is a must do when things like that occurs. So after Ruth told me it was all there late last night (for me) I had such a huge sigh of relief, I could sleep easy. Today I am well rested and ready to get on with my day. So far I have baked a cake for my husband's Birthday. Made a huge bowl of soup, 2 coffees but I am dropping everything. hee hee Clumsy day! Since we will be away when hubby's Birthday is here next week I decided to make sure he has his favorite cake before we leave. This way if he has one that we are not expecting to have for him in the US at least it will have been taken care of. He is so special to me that I have to make sure he gets what he really enjoys on his Birthday and the whole year for that matter. He is my rock! And he rocks!
In my very busy evening I had last night, I managed to make 4 cards that are somewhat similar but because I have changed the embossing folder on them, they all look different. You will see that in a couple of days when I resize them for the blog. (try it with your cards)
For today I have another card to share with you:
You will see some similarities to this card as the one I posted yesterday. It was so much fun to make with the gold stock that I had to make it worth its while to go ahead and use more of it. I used many dies as you can see. A stamp border from Cuttlebug cut in half to make corners out of, the Spellbinder's large scalop circle on a pattern paper and Spellbinder's heart shapes, small heart punch, a peel off LOVE element, ribbons, Cuttlebug folder for the background and some Distress Ink from Tim Holtz as I was using Tim Holtz his sponges on inkssensials wood handle. I used it all around the scalopped circle shape on my background paper to give it an aged look. I then put the front of the card onto green cardstock. Voila!
I will see if I can add a quickie sheet here today. I have run out of the ones I had made previously so I will see what I can find to prepare for you. But if not today, I will likely have one new quickie sheet for you tomorrow
So here is one quickie sheet for you:
Gone for now!
Have a fantastic day everyone!
P.S.: Thank you for all the fantastic comments on my cards and my work, it is so appreciated you have no idea how much! Keep'em coming and I will keep my cards coming as well hee hee, sounds like a good deal to me.
I will start with sharing one more card I made last week. I am still going strong making more and more cards. So here is my effort for today:
Here is my Anniversary card. My base was with some cocoa cardstock, caramel and very vanilla. I used some golden color ribbon with peel off. The hearts are from the Nestibilities hearts and with some golden packaging I had kept from the last Chinese Holiday I was able to outline my hearts with it. I used an embossing folder and outlined by inking the raised part of it, for some shadow effect and dimension, I added a doodle cut piece and that's my card for today.
Update on photobucket
Ruth thank you! I will have to go back and relearn how to work the bucket it seems it for away from me for a while. No matter what I tried today I was always seeing black on white, there are no images, a few times and then I stopped hoping it would come back somehow. Ruth said she went back and she can see all the images. For now I will get some rest and come back in the morning to try again. I have a feeling I will see more than what I saw today. One had over 400 images and the other one nothing. So keep your fingers crossed that I will be able to get back in and make sure I can confirm that all is still there.
Now I have to say, I will do what I always tell everyone, I will either reboot or I will close all browsers and start all over again. Thank you for the so many emails I appreciated your offer for help I can only feel so blessed to have such a great bunch of friends. I am also preparing for a trip in a few days so I will do what I can until we leave.
I heard that some were complaining about some of my sites not working. Please if there are any concerns on this topic at least send me an email so I can look into it. As far as I know I have no problems with my own sites so if something needs to be fixed send your concerns to me! email@example.com
I will resume activities tomorrow on Monday for me. But please send me an email I am the only one that can fix the problems and will do what I can to solve issues.
It's the weekend here and I have a lot to do so I will keep this one real short
Here is another card I have made recently:
The stamps are from Gina K. Designs on www.StampTv.com This card was fun to make. I have 3 layers, cocoa paper, marigold, and off white. I embossed the background and ran some ink with a sponge dabber on the diamonds to add dimension to it I added some peel off corners. I colored my stamps with Prismacolor pencils and use the OMS (Odorless Mineral Spirit) technique with a paper stump. Cut out a tag with my Spellbinders tags attached some linen thread to the tag and made a small bow for the pot with the same material. I hope it inspires you.
Today the quickie sheet is out of the ordinary but since it is a veggie I am missing so much in China I had to turn this image into a 3D to tease myself even more. So I hope you will enjoy turning this beautiful artichoke into a card. It could be turned into a healthy wish card!
Gone for now!
Your weekend is near so I will wish you all a very happy weekend. Happy shopping if you are headed in that direction. Will be back soon!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments, I smile and love to read them all. So don't be shy!
I will start today with another card I made with a tutorial:
Here is my Birthday easel card.
You will need Beaded Ovals from Spellbinders or other shape of preference, Fancy tags from Spellbinders, a ribbon coordinating with one of the three main colors using on your card. 3 colors of card stock and ink. Fancy looking paper for the background.
First you need to make the easel base of your card. Without giving you a template which we don't need. The way I make mine is simple. Make an ordinary card A2, A4 or A5 whichever size you want to make this card. Take the front of your card and measure the center of it lengthwise. Score it on the lengthy way and fold. The flap should touch down toward the back of your card. That's your easel. Now you need to cut the same size in cardstock of the front of your card. If you want to get fancier later you can, but for now let's cut a rectangle. Now you will use some double sided tape of the flap you have facing you the one that touches the back of the card. Once it is covered with tape take your new piece of cardstock and adhere it to the bottom of the easel. Make sure you have flattened up the card flap again to ease the putting the two pieces together nicely. Then fold it again. This time you have you basic completed easel base.
Or research Easel template among your favorite card making sites to get a picture of it but it is pretty simple to make once you understand the concept of folding half the front of the card on lengthy side. You will understand how the rest works if you look at my card here.
Once you have your basic shape you can play at covering it with your background paper on the top piece after placing your ribbon where you want it and wrap it around before adhering the paper to the front of the easel. I usually add a piece on the bottom of the card you see how far you want to open it and you will also need something to keep it standing after the person opens it. In this case I have conveniently used the tag that keeps it from falling flat. It could be a flower, bling try and use something that will not get out of shape because when the card is closed the top panel squishes the parts underneath. Try and predict the look of how what you are using will either bounce back into original shape or will not be too affected but it. Think practical and not too bulky.
As for your daily quickie sheet here it is:
Gone for now!
I don't think I have shared this one before but if I did for the ones that already have it my apologies for the repeat. But I doubt I have shared this one yet. In any case I hope you can enjoy it. I may have another candle sheet for you soon.
