Hi Friends
Here I am finally, so sorry I could not make any quickie sheets to share as I have a problem with my main tool. It is not wanting to do what I need it to do to make my decoupage sheets. So please be patient as I am really trying to find what the hick-up is all about. Different day, different challenges LOL
In the meantime I am happy to share another one of my cards with you, along with the recipe. Sorry for being away for a few days, I was trying to fix the problem as I was hoping I could fix it and not having to tell you hee hee. But I told you and I am going to still work on this as I am not going to let it win me through frustration.
Here is my card for today following with it's recipe:
You will need some peel off vase or other item of choice. Two Nestibilities shapes. In this case I used the large Oval + matting, and the Label Four, some ink, Cuttlebug folder and some peel off corners. 3 colors of cardstock. Watercolor and water brush.
Easy to make card and could be used for many occasions. I made this one for a Happy Birthday theme. First I had to do my vase piece with watercolor. This is a fun technique as it used to be my very first experience with peel offs when they first arrived on the market. I would take a watercolor appropriate sheet and with my watercolor pencils, or other watercolor media you have, use a waterbrush (water contained paint brush) and grab color one at a time to splatter onto the watercolor paper. After being done I would let it dry.
Then you add your peel off on top of it checking where on the colors it would look the nicest. Then I would undercut around the design. Cutting around the design but using the scissors sideways so you don't get to see a white edge outside of your peel off. It makes a cleaner cut.
I would run my cardstock mat in a Cuttlebug folder of my choosing to adhere to the main card. Then with some ink. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Inks, and foam pads. I ran the sponge all arounf the largest oval to add some dimension to it and then adhered a piece of shimmering gold design to it.
The Nestibility Frame Four was cut and embossed and again I inked up some foam pads and ink with Tim Holtz Distress inks before removing the embossed frame and paper. After you are done with the ink you are left with a small white edge. I added the pell off corners at the end
Tip: when sponging or using a foam pad with pouncer always remember to ink regularly your tool, make sure you always start inking from the outside of your work so you don't end up with unwanted darker lines. You do this making circular motions working your way from the outside to the inside edge. Practice will make you appreciate this technique as well as loving the look you are creating with the sponge or foam. Any water based inks can be used for this technique.
I use one finger sponge per color and one foam pad for each color I have for this technique. I store them by colors and are easily re-used the next time around.
