I am back...

Hi Friends

I am so happy to be back home.  

I love travelling but isn't that what makes us appreciate our own bed, our own cooking and craft area all that much more of our routine?  I know I am happy to be back for now, and until our next escapade hee hee.  I will try and post the pictures I have promised a few weeks ago and I will have more to add from our last trip as well.  10 days of paradise was so beautiful it made it hard to pack and come back.

I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend in the USA.  Well, for us we never saw it, let me explain.  When we left Hawaii on the 31st of May we arrived here on June 1st having missed Tuesday here.  We are about 15 hours ahead of California so flying all that time, we skipped a whole day.  Fun concept to wrap my brain around hee hee.  But we left from the US flew for more than 10 hours waited 2 hours in Seoul Korea for another flight of an hour long to get us here plus 45 minutes from airport to home.  We were both so happy to shut the door behind us and say home sweet home.  We were flying most of the Memorial Day so we never saw it other than when we got up and drove to the airport.  *smiling*

So give me a few days and I will add photos and cards and quickie sheets again.  I have so much to catch up on that I have promised to not stress over anything I will do what I can is all.  So I hope everyone is doing well and I am so happy to be back sending you more blogging pages.  I just hope I can make you smile each time.

Hi, here is my blog for today

Hi Friends

Happy to be back here today.  I have been doing so many little chores for the passed few days not forgetting all the cards I have made.  I am close to 60 and I think if I get to 60 I will stop there for now.  I had to take more photos of the cards I made in the passed 4 days so I am going to have a small library to share with you for a while.  I hope I can succeed in giving you more inspiration for cards.  I am happy that I inspired some of you to start again.  That makes my day!

So for today here is my card with recipe:

 
Recipe

Cocoa and orange card stock, Gina K Designs stamp set.  I first stamped the mug twice, once on white card stock and the other on the pattern paper.  I cut around the parts of the stamp I wanted to add the pattern to the white card stock mug.  I colored the spoon.  Linen thread was glued inside the mug to then add the tea to hang off of the mug.  I left it loose.  I Stamped Happy Birthday at the bottom on the same pattern paper.  Sponged daubed around the orange card stock layer with darker orange color.  I then placed the mug and spoon into position.

Time consumed, 1 hour.  Level of difficulty 5 being most difficult, level 2

More inspiration coming your way

Another fun day for me.  I am having such a blast, but I am also running out of ideas LOL.  It is a lot of cards to get done in about 15 days having been away for 3 days in the middle of it.  But considering the amount of cards I have made so far, I am proud of myself.  So this is my card and recipe for today

 Recipe

Well I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder called Swiss Dots in white stock. I used one of the newest punches of MS on white pearlescent stock (punched out on the same strip up and down which gave me a middle wide enough where I added the beautiful ribbon.  I used gingham yellow stock for the bottom of the card.  The flower is actually one of the latest designer's flowers (by Donna Salazar) called Rose Creations.  The leaves are also from my stash, of flowers and leaves, made out of handmade paper.  I only used the 3 largest flowers in the set since I wanted to keep this flower as flat as possible for mailing purposes.  I used an already made Happy Birthday tag I had printed in gold.  Voila you have it in a nutshell.

I hope it gives you inspiration.  I love this flower set from Spellbinders.

P.S.:  I was ask in the comment box if my Butterfly card of yesterday was one that flattens up when mailing out?  Yes it does but when taken out of the envelope it is easily popped back to place.  This way any of the card gets damaged when mailed.

Sitting here on a Tuesday morning...

Hi Friends

Oh I am so happily overwhelmed to see that I am able to make so many cards in such a small amount of time.  I start with one, that one leads me to another idea as I am trying to use many passed techniques I have learned in 10 years.  Flower making, to water color, decoupaging, because I have limited time I have not gone to stitching but it is another one of my love as well as iris folding.  I have a few pieces I started on the side.  You know when you start a center piece of a card and something tells you it is not going to work for whatever reason, that makes you set it aside for later?  I have a lot of them pieces just sitting under my eyes to use at any moment.  It does work. 

But I will not tell you how many I made until I am done with this session. hee hee

So for today I am sharing this card with you including a quick recipe to give you some idea on how I made it.  If you need more details or have any questions, please ask in the comment box I will make sure to reply as soon as possible.

One tone card, one of my favorite looks

All white card-stock.  Used Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, MS punch scalloped edge punch, Scor-buddy for line scoring.  Spellbinder Petite Oval die, peel off greeting, for the golden butterfly and the gold matting I used some fancy golden sheet I had in my stash, it looks really pretty with some speckles.  I also used a Martha Stewart Butterfly punch.  I mirrored the butterfly so I have golden under and over for good measures.  That's it!

Another card to share

Hi Friends

I am so happy to be in the card making mood.  It is amazing how time flies when I am having such a great time.  It is challenging me but who doesn't like a challenge once in a while.  I know that I will want to continue after next week when I am done with this batch of cards.  It is too much fun not to go on.  So get prepared to have more cards to see and to come for a while yet.  The cards I need to make are mostly flat cards.  So the flower ones I make are just so I can do something different and challenge myself with new punches and dies I have on hand.  So, it is my pleasure to share my cards as I am hoping that it is giving you back the bug of making cards again for those of you who were not in the mood like me for a while.

Recipe for this card

As you can see I used some linen textured stock, I also used a newest punch from MS, ribbon to make a double looped bow, large daisy punches 2 layers + 1 medium size daisy punch 1 layer of it (paper studio sold at Hobby Lobby), as well as the small sun (punch a bunch) 3 layers on each daisy, giving fullness to the center of the daisies and some sizzix leaf branches.  3 Spellbinder shapes were used.  One Cuttlebug folder as also used and added some tiny pearls around the Birthday.  The shading on the scalopped layer was also shaded with the help of a Tim Holtz sponge and dauber with Memento ink pad (Lilac posies).  If you are fascinated by handmade cards there are lovely books out there to inspire you and also teach you the tools you need to make them as well as the important techniques you need to know to get as close as possible to a naturel flower look.

One of the books I have to assist me when I need a little hand is called "Paper Bouquet" by Susan Tierney Cockburn.  It is easy to find in a search.  So since I am not in business with anyone I will keep this short.  But this was for those of you who might want to give this flower a go.  Why buy made ones when you can make better looking ones, that is, if you have the time for them.

I always make more flowers and keep them in a bead plastic container so this way I have some ready to use when needed.  I also punch many ahead of time so it is nice and silent at night when I need to prepare flowers.

I forgot to come and post a blog yesterday.  The day went by so quickly that when I was relaxing before I fell asleep I thought, oh no, I didn't post today, so here I am, not wanting to repeat the same today.  I have a card to share but not enough time to add a quickie sheet, will try over the weekend if I get extra time to come out for fresh air.

 
Recipe for this card

Sorry about the darkness of it I will try and change it when it is daytime tomorrow. Nellie Snellen punch set,  Flower punches and embossing punches.  I shaped each individual petal and cupped the flower layers as I layer them.  I used two larger flowers and 1 smaller then used a star punch (Carl, Carla punch) I added some blue on the tips and then finished each flower with a white pearl.  I used some of the Sizzix branch with leaves, textured the leaves and glue into place.  Used oval Spellbinder die for the greeting and used Shapeability pendant lattice set for the greeting topping part.  2 Stampin'Up 2 pattern papers and ribbon.  It was another fun card to make.  I hope it is inspiring you

Now that we are back from another exciting trip of 4 days I am able to concentrate on making more and more cards.  I have taken a picture of one of them today.  I was hoping for some sunshine to get a crispier image in the daylight but this will have to do.  The sky has been covered all day without rain so I only took this picture for now.  I hope you get inspired from it.  I had seen a card with a similar idea months ago and always had it in mind.  I took some materials I had on hand and made my funky little version of it.  I don't remember the name of the person who I got the inspiration from sorry.

 

 
Oh I had a good time making this card.  I took so many colors so I would have different options, but what I picked was the best look for what I was after.

Bazzil paper in the beige tones, white, and the flower is made out of some shimmering card stock in egg white color I had on hand.  For those who have a place called RAFT in their town, this is where I purchased this stock at a ridiculous price.

I used different Tim Holtz Distressed inks, such as Antique Linen, Walnut Stain.  But really, you could use any color you see fit for your project.  Make it your own.

I also had on hand, a copper wire I cut to length and prepared for the end portion of this card and also used some linen thread that I made into a 4 loop bow. Some liquid pearls was also used to add some dimension to my flower and around it.

I used the Spellbinder emboss stencil called Rose creations - Donna Salazar is the designer.  I used the medium size out of the 5 sizes.  I made my own leaves.  Daisy punch for center of flower.

Quick instructions

I made the flower backing this way.  I first cut out a mat piece.  I cut another mat the same size but this second piece was to shred to 3 pieces on the width side as per seen on the card.  Before I adhered the pieces to the mat, I had fun distressing it all experimenting with Tim Holtz ink pads.  I love to work with his sponge tool.   Glue on or tape the strips on your mat. I also distressed around the mat before sticking it to the card.  Set aside.  I cut my flower and separated all the petals and distressed all petals edges with ink.  The shimmering effect of the flower and ink is making this card look so special.  I did the same inking process for the leaves.  Before adding the leaves on the card I took a needle tool and rolled the end of the leaf so it would almost wrap around the wire.  Inked the daisy as well with the same ink color.  After adding 3 dimensional tape under each petal I was ready to add it to my card.  Once the petals are all in place and you like the position of the leaves, add the daisy.  I added my wire, that is held by the daisy's glue dot.  Then with the liquid pearls I added drops of it on the flower and around it.  Voila!

Time taken: 1 hour, from 1 to 5 level of difficulty 5 being the hardest, I call it a 3

I hope you had a nice weekend.  Here we had the chance to go for a walk on Saturday it was so lovely out here.  I was also able to make quite a few cards as I took some of my flower punches out and try my hand at more flowers to make cards with.  I went back to some of the cards I had made a few years ago where I could get more ideas.  I will let be the judge of that when I post a few this week.  I have also reopened my flower books I had taken with me here.  Wow it was so nice to revisit that aspect of crafting.  I always enjoy it.  I also used to be a member of a flower making group which I also learned a great deal from. 

But for now here is a quickie sheet for you and will try to post some of my cards soon
