Hi Friends
Another rapid week went by. As we are returning soon to our homeland with excitement, comes the wave of changes I want to make within my blog. I am not telling details yet, but I will lean toward a new look that I am sure will be to my advantage as well as I am hoping that it will perk more interest from all of you my loyal and new readers. I always, as you know, welcome suggestions as I know the world of crafting is always evolving with new exciting products to either make our work simpler but always aiming for the prettiest look we can give a card when possible.
I was chatting with a friend the other day when I told her that in so many places I visited online I get the sense of having cards that are more complicated and thicker than ever before. I like this only when I know it is going to be shared with someone who is near me. But for the mailings of other cards, if we aim on saving money when sending loads of them as I know some of you do. Either from participating in swaps of any kind or plainly caring and sharing with friends around the world, the fact remains that over all the years I have been a crafter, it is easy to forget that a lot of us have started a week, a few months ago or better yet, have never crafted in their lifetime but they are eager to give this a try.
I will keep in mind the newbie crafter as I explain or give recipes for my cards. I started too and I remember back then there was hardly any blogs or homepages pertaining to any crafts at all and I wished then I would have had more inspiration coming my way but I had to make due with learning on my own in my dining room table looking at the palm trees from my patio doors. That was ages ago it seems but it was 10 years ago. How time flies.
Where am I going with this? Well, I am wanting a nice change with some goals in mind. I will make that clearer when I get closer to having a clear plan on what's to come. I need to plan and prepare so all elements are in place for me to share more fun with you.
So, remember, I need your input on what you think is missing on blogs you are currently visiting, things you would love to see about cardmaking, either it is more videos, more turorials or images? More hands on cardmaking, I know I am not a sketch maker but I beleive that when you are able to describe how the card was made it is just as helpful for you. Not to worry about the photobuckets they will stay for you to use.
So on this positive news I better share another card and a new decoupage before I close for the day.
Here is the card for today:
Recipe
For this card I have used some Wild Wasabi, white whisper and black SU (Stampin Up) stock. Cute black and white ribbon from Gina K Designs ribbons. One cardstock hand made button *explanation on my button below*. Some Spellbinder fancy tag, greeting from my stash. Barn door ink from Tim Holtz distress ink and sponges to color the edges. Background of scripted text stamp + I stamped and colored two small flowers to accentuate the script background look. Cuttlebug swiss dots was also used for the layer on this card. The heart piece was really easy to make. I had made a black heart a while ago and had the left over cardstock sitting on my table and I thought hey, what if I just tear around the cut heart to make a cute little frame with it and this is what I got as a result. I couldn't leave it as is, thinking it had to be mounted on something beautiful so the script stamp idea was born.
Button: I keep a lot of packaged boxes that are frosty looking or a shimmer to them because I know I can use one of my punches to make something one day when needed. In this case it was a nice box I had kept from some rice cakes we had a few months ago. So the button was born from that since I didn't want the bulkness of a real button on my card, at least not that one. So I cut out one red circle 3/4 inch, and cut out 3 more in plain stock to give some thickness to the button. When the red and board buttons are glued and dried, I can pierce my holes and on a mouse pad, I ran my medium size stylus to make a subtle border around the almost outer edge of the button. I took a red marker and colored the edges after all 4 circles were adhered in one piece. Ran through some decorative cord through the button and glued it down with a glue dot.
Enjoy making your own with your own little touches
