Hi Friends
Friday! I am so happy this is the weekend. This is when we are going to finish the repairs in our master bedroom. The mess is about to start. We have to plaster the wall, which if you have done this before, you have to know that it will get so messy. I want to remove the bed from the room simply because I know that, no matter I cover the mattress with, it will still get dusty. I am not going to sleep well if we have a dusty mattress period. LOL that's what she says LOL
So we will look funny for a few hours after sanding. I know next week I will have the rest of the house to wash floors and dust but I will wait until Friday to dust the furniture since I know the dust takes a long time to settle. Why do the work twice? I will then be able to see what color I want our bedroom to be painted and get a new bed cover (duvet cover) and pillows to match. That will be the fun part for me. Once it is all done I will post a picture but I am hesitating because I know we will relay some flooring next year so I should probably wait until then. Mmmm will have to see about that.
Here is the card photo for today with the recipe.
This card is very easy to make but this first one also shows you the texture in the natural light
3 colors of CS were used. Green (stem, leaf), white for matting and for card base, and lastly I used a mustard color CS to mat on card base. I have used ink yellow and orange, with sponge dauber around an oval template safely placed over the white Bazzill CS as inking on textured CS is so much fun. Die cut of any flower of your choice. Stylus to cup the petals adding dimension to it all. Foam pad. Cut a petal and stem long enough to accomodate your leaf in proportion. Add a ribbon of choice. Mine I decided to make a double bow. A simple bow would also fit the bill nicely.
I started making a template with one of my die cuts on hand. Made the same size as the matting so I can center the template on the card. Once it is positionned with some temporary adhesive you can use a sponge dauber and start with your lighter color always. So you ink your sponge and with circular motions you will go around the shape and color it until you are satisfied of the intensity of it. Then slowly go into the middle of the shape from dark to pale. With the orange you will do the same but you will stay within the edge of the shape to leave a paler yellow inside, it does really make the card. So practice this technique on another piece of paper to see where you need to apply pressure and where not to. I also sponged some green ink on the edges of the leaf and added some veins with the help of the stylus and foam pad (remember to not apply too much pressure when on foam pad or you will pierce through the leaf so perhaps you can make 2 instead of one and practice on the one and if you don't need the second that means you have a spare one for a future card or a second one like this one. Done!
I get my inspiration for cardmaking in all places, blogs and websites that has lovely cards. I also get inspired by colors from magazines I get at home or what I see in store displays. Also from where I buy my rubberstamps. The inspirations are endless so don't be afraid to look around think of a theme you need to make for a family member or a friend and pick colors you have gotten to know are their preferences and have fun with it! Never adhere parts or all the card until you are completely satisfied of the results. Unglueing is NO FUN!
Have a fantastic day and an awesome weekend to boot!
Will see you again on Monday! Smile, smile, smile!
