Hi Friends,
Here I am again. It's been more than a month since my post and I can tell you I was busy with all sorts of little things that became a huge list of things that needed to be done. No kidding. We are notorious to attract water issues everywhere we live and it is just because of old plumbing or pumps and so on. Will spare you details. But we managed to rescue one of the koi fishes in one of the ponds because the pump had stopped working and the water turned into a thick green soup texture. So we had to clean it all up. In the meantime I was playing rescue fish in a bucket I had filled with water and mixed some pond water so they were not too shocked from the clean water, they probably never seen in so long but a pond is a pond, it is not the best smelling water but the fish thrive in there as long as the PH is balanced and other chemical elements that we soon had to learn about as well. But the fishes were swimming sideways so I had to rescue some and the rest went and stayed at the bottom while we were cleaning. A long but worthy job though.
We also had to prepare for a special wedding for September 15th. My step daughter was getting married and since she is the only girl in the family it was a very special day for all of us. Daddy was a very proud man to walk her down the aisle
A diet was also started back in June for both of us. It was a good decision. I needed to find out about the calorie intake on a daily basis and better ways to get the best of nutrients in the best veggies and fruits out there. So I was on a successful mission. We both lost what we wanted to lose and we were so delighted to be able to buy myself a new dress for the wedding and a tuxedo for hubby to look and feel like a million bucks. It took me hours to write on everything we have in the pantry and refrigerator (how many point for each item and what is the amount of a serving in larger letters so I don't need my reading glasses each time I use anything. So I am managing this new healthy way quite well now. It took some precious time away from the computer and my blog BUT it was all worth it in the end as I am feeling so much better. We have also been walking at least 3 miles a day. If not walking we use our exercise bike.
There is so much more that was going on around here along with my gardening and keeping everything looking happy and healthy fish, veggies and flowers, pool chemicals and so on. Whew! Believe me Summer here is not a picnic, it brings a lot more work we had not anticipated. But we do know that now we will be better prepared for next year. Our A/C air conditionning ran out (mid-Summer of course) of freon gas on one of those (HOT HOT HOT please don't let it break today) DAYS. So another repair guy had to be called to the scene as I don't do heat too well LOL.
So I have told you about the wedding it was a very fun day, a chance to see in laws and mingle with my lady friends back in California. It was a very short stay for a very long drive (18 hours) not counting the stops for stretching, gas and other natural needs hee hee. So we were gone 8 days and drove 4 days out of 8. I am still recuperating.
Which brings me to showing you the two cards I made for the newlyweds I hope you like them. I had long hours of fun making them. I will also be adding a description about them. Enjoy.
I took photos at the end of the day as the sun was setting so I apologize for the glaring and darker photos. We were leaving the next morning...
I had found an image I loved on Picasa and decided to turn it into my 3 layer 3D by printing it 3 times, cutting out the main elements I wanted to showcase, and made a glitter CS frame for the Mr and Mrs B. to fit inside the frame. I then added some CS punched heart over the top of the couple. I also made sure to keep the background image to make the background of the card.
I matted that main image on top of some CS glitter and then to Vanilla CS. This was the fun card to give and I couldn't just be satisfied withone card I went ahead and made a second one which took me about 4 hours to make.
Here is the second card (Elegant one)
That was my elegant card for them
The envelope and inside of the card were accented by silver foil. I had to fancy up the envelope so I found a frame online that I had to fix before using (the right side of it wasn't printing) LOL. More time. But I used one label of Spellbinders after printing and foiling the Mr and Mrs on Vanilla CS. The frame was foiled in gold and the words in Silver. I hope the pictures are showing the foiled effect well.
I had also used more of the CS Glitter for the hearts, champagne glasses and bubblies. Used a Sizzix embossing folder for the background and then added a special shimmering CS I had found in Perth Australia 2 years ago. Finally I had the perfect occasion to use it for.
I finished up the finer details with some peel off lines and a Silver ribbon above Andrea and Ben.
This is the inside. I found some more elegant peel off squares in my collection and added 2 Glittered hearts over the peel offs on the left hand side of the card. The right side was first layer was printed on plain paperto show 2 champagne glasses forming a heart with the champagne spilling out. I used some die cut corners with the Silver glittered CS to hold down the vellum onto the champagne image so we can see through the image perfectly. Ran the words through the printer and foiling machine before fixing layers permanently.
This is a close up of the Gold and Silver foiling on the envelope. I hope you enjoyed looking at them. Thank you for visiting. As you know I do appreciate all comments it only takes a few minutes but sure is encouraging to continue to show you more. Or just say Hi!
