Hi Friends
I have had a very busy week so far and it doesn't seem to get any quieter for the rest of it so, I decided to allow myself a nice little break to post a card for you, as I had told you about this one in my last publication, so I am here for this reason today.
This card is the card I made to send to some friends I know we exchange Valentine's Day cards every year. We always send eachother our own little creations of the moment. So this time, I had seen a card with aprons on it and thought, what better way (feminine like) to make a card to send our love to friends than aprons with hearts? So I took that idea and made my own template, which was still in a testing stage, until I could see this working for me.
Needless to say, after finding my paper in my PC archives, the paper I wanted was all in blue which wasn't what I needed so I had to colorize it in red. Ah! it worked and after testing a printed sheet I was good to go.
So I chose 3 backing papers and printed enough to make approx 15 cards. This is the part when I realized why I loved die cuts so much...."added to: NOTE TO SELF for future projects" but that was the part that was relaxing "putting it all together after trying one apron when I decided I loved the look enough to make a card "YIPPEE STAGE"
As promised here is my own template of the apron I started from scratch. I didn't change the size of my template when I saved it to my PC so if you print as is, you should get the size I used and it will be easy to check because I have added measurements to each piece. I made a front view and a cut on fold view. I prefer to work with a CUT ON FOLD as it is quick and easy. But if you prefer the full image then you have that too. Click once on the template and right click to save it to your computer. Print as is. There is still time to make this pretty card...

Now that we have a template we can move on to the photos of the card itself. So here is the finished product followed by the recipe with the rest of the card. It is very easy but I will provide the info on what I did next!
An almost complete group photo

Recipe
Good for you if you read the top part of the post, we can take it from there and finish up putting the card together. As you can see I used a white base for my card, then I matted it with coordinating red and once again this time matted on the red back to a white linen where I will stamp my Happy Valentine's Day Sentiment and adhere my 3 finished aprons.
Tools needed: Tacky Eileen's glue, if you have the SU oval punch this is what I used to make the pockets on the apron, small heart punches were used here but if you have die cuts it will do just as well. Stickles (diamond) was used around the pockets, sponge daubers, or make up sponges if you have that, and a red ink pad. I used Love Letter from Memento for this card. 1/8 inch satin white ribbon for the neck loop, 3 different backing papers, already cut and ready to ink up and adhere to the apron backing. Scissors, snail runner tape, glue dots.
EASY PEASY for the rest of the apron preparation. Each pattern paper once cut out has to be edge inked. So what I did was like a production chain, I was inking up all of my pattern paper ahead of time so once that step is complete you can move on to the pockets and hearts.
Adhere the pattern paper to the main apron in white CS I used my snail runner tape for this part. Then I moved on to the pockets, you can make the pockets SQUARE, but when I found my oval punch, I had to use that for the pocket. So I cut out my ovals in white and folded the oval in half to then cut the fold away, leaving me with 2 pieces (2 pockets) good for 2 aprons. Now comes the part where I had edge inked all of the pockets in a chain production manner also.
Then for the heart I just punched out the amount of hearts for 15 cards X 3= 45 little hearts. I had 2 heart punches the right size so I mixed between the two. At the very end when all was finished I then used my Diamond Stickles around all of the pockets LOL YEP!
Apron neck piece. I took the ribbon and cut out pieces of ribbon for each apron, once I determined the length I needed it became easier. But each one has to be adhered on each top part of the aprons before it all goes to the card, easier this way and less risk to drop or smear the card with accidental glue drops. I then overlapped the 3 aprons starting from the right to the left with some glue dots.
NOTE: I never said it was going to be a fast card LOL. Just very easy, but, time consuming. Hey, the more time I spend on a card, the prettier it is when finished, in my humble opinion. This card can be made in a quicker way without the backing on the apron and without a pocket or a heart on it, it would still be pretty, but not as realistic looking in the end. The choice is yours. I gave you the tools, you make it your own now.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I am optimistic that sometime during the Summer I will attempt making videos for the tutorials as I have been getting a lot of emails suggesting I go that route when possible. I am listening. I need to prepare my room to this effect and my brain to start it all. Oh Dear!
Have a fun day, and please, if you decide to make a card like this one or similar please let me see it, I would love to see your take on your end of it.
Be creative, it is so rewarding! Thanks for stopping by and if you have time, leave a comment. It always makes us bloggers smile and feel so happy hee hee
