Hi Friends,
I realized while preparing the blog for all the Valentine's Day cards that I would have a lot of work ahead of me, was I ever right. But, it is worth it, if one card inspires you to make one of your own I am so happy. So here is my Val cards for today with short recipes.
Recipe
Material needed. Watercolor any kind you have, red, pink and yellow. Water spritz bottle, Love Sentiment stamp, Large Background rubberstamp, Red CS for card base. Very Vanilla for background matting and for the front of the card I used some watercolor CS, heart rubberstamp, snail runner glue, heat gun, paper towels.
Making of the card. On a pre-determined size of watercolor CS mine was 5.25 in X 4 in for an A2 size card, I used for this card, some watercolor crayons rubbing my stamp with it in different areas at random but making sure I covered the whole stamp. Sprayed with water until the stamp was showing wetness all over, then quickly applied my watercolor CS on top of the stamp and then turned it around facing down to the paper so all the water would get into the CS and colors would also get a good coverage. I then added more water to the CS directly and with the crayon I scribbled around the edges with the red and more yellow inside etc... Each time I would stop and dry it with the heat gun. Then I stamped the heart to the center and emphasized on the flowers in the stamp by adding more of the crayon on each flower and again water sprayed it and dried.
Then I stamped my Love Sentiment stamp onto the card. My CS was a little warped from all the water soaking so I took it to the iron making sure I had some paper towels on each side to keep the iron clean. No steam setting. When flat, finish putting the card together as per seen on the photos, I have removed the half of the red card base and adhered the card with layers onto the left side of the card.
Voila!
***************************************************************
Material needed: white linen texture, red CS. Heart focal image, bling, rubberstamp Love, Cuttlebug embossing strips. Rectangle Spellbinder shapes to make a frame, (see picture below). Red ink pad (I used Red Letter from Memento), Spellbinder small shape for the Sentiment. Glue dots, 3D foam, snail runner glue, sponge dauber or make up sponge
Heart was made out of red Crayola Crayons on glossy CS with the help of an iron low setting temperature. (Not recommended to be using an iron we use for our clothes) too hot even on the lowest setting. Added a coat of lacquer to the heart to protect it from scratches into the wax. Then once dry, I ran a Golf Leaf pen around the edge, in silver.
Making of the card. Card base was SU white whisper, layered with red, than another layer of white that is embossed at the top and bottom with the Cuttlebug embossing strip (loved the look). Adhered that layer to the card. Proceeded with the frame making and inked the inside and outside edges with red ink, made a backing for the frame and put the frame and back together before adhering with glue dots to the card. 3 little stones were added to the left corner of the frame. Then made the small shaped tag for the Love Sentiment.
I hope you enjoyed these 2 cards and thanks for stopping in and if you leave a comment, thank you for the smile I made when I read your comment.
