Hi friends,
I hope all of you are enjoying the weekend. We are enjoying the calm here before we get all the workers come in to change our A/C system tomorrow. I will also appreciate having a cooler home to sleep thank you for very much LOL. Fans are not helping since it is only moving the hot air around LOL. 100F to 104F days or 40C is hot enough for me. But the skies are blue, so what's not to like, right?
I just saw my neighbors preparing their gear to go camping earlier this morning. Oh that brings such wonderful memories back in the day. The weather is lovely enough for that and I wish them shaded areas and a nice stay where ever they are going. The Festive weekend of Indenpendance Day is coming up this week, I hope you have your BBQ's ready for some yummy food to serve to your fun guests.
As for the Roses are red.....in today's topic, for a while now, I have been preparing for this Gift box card just for the sake of making one, that's all. But I was pressed for time with house repairs, weekly cleaning, classes at the store and so many other things. BUT NOW, I have more time. Shhhhhhh I don't want to say it too loudly, I don't want to jinks myself. So here is what I accumulated and made from scratch yesterday and this morning. Putting the whole thing together, I must say, is the most fun part of this project.
I will let you search the You tube to find how to make flowers by cutting the shapes first, then shaping petals, as there are many ways to do this, but mostly it is something you will enjoy trying and who knows you will get the bug of making more like I did, so you can put together a nice project of your own.
Here it is:
For all the roses I used the Spellbinder Donna Salazar - Rose Creations S5-050 not knowing if this die is still available or not, I am just letting you know what I have used for my roses. The leaves are from a set of rose leaf die I have but can't tell from what brand. The branches are by Memory Box- Grove Branch.
The box itself I made from scratch, starting with an A2 size piece of CS, I traced around it, scored it and finally trimmed cut it, and assembled.
I made 2 dozens of the roses, half a dozen of the rose buds. The rose buds took me longer to make than the flowers as a whole. Estimated time to make all flowers, wetting paper, distressing before drying, die cutting flowers, wetting again, scattering on brad, forming one layer at a time for a total of 5 layers each flower. 1 and half day. Priceless LOL
Offering different angles of this box to show how it was assembled, it was a work of heart!
Oh and don't forget the buds....these little guys are definitely important if you want to draw a natural looking arrangement. Have fun, go play!
Go ahead, try your own fun box even if you just want to use already made flowers, the pleasure of making one is really pleasing. Perhaps you want to make it for a close family member, a dear friend's Birthday, or just to display on a shelf, try it, I assure you it is not difficult. Just choose the swag shape you are after and work from that angle. Add the buds last, see where they fit best.
Be creative, let a project you have had in mind for some time, come to life!
Next card will house daisies....
